Jakarta Cries A River
I don’t know what is happening to this ‘Capital City of Indonesia’. It is the biggest, the most prosperous, the most populated, the most etc etc etc city in Indonesia, but it is also the most polluted, city with the worse environment, and the last thing I want to mention is, it is the Capital City with Huge Flood happening every 5 years. The previous huge flood was happening in 2002, and before that was in 1996. I wasn’t living in Jakarta during the 90’s so I wasn’t sure about it. But I assumed it should be true while it has been told by some guys I met these couple of days.
The first floor of my house was filled with dirty water and what make it worse is the black out and internet connection was down for more than 1 week, which have made me totally out of the daily works and activities. Imagine how our clients scream on me??
I won’t blame it on the nature. I would most likely blame it in bad drainage and bad ecosystem we have here.
Well, let’s just hope our government or whoever ‘people in charged’ can take a deep thought and use their mind and soul to think of a really good way to handle this, so 2007 will be the last huge flood that happen in our beloved Capital City. Lots of our people are having a very poor life already, at least just don’t make it worse.
These are some pictures I took in front of my house during the flood. I was unable to go anywhere when I took these shots.
