Cuil – Google killer?

At first glance, as a designer I love the layout, very simple and being a little brave to go out from common white color that has been around for years. Google and Yahoo has white as background. So, Cuil.com (read cool.com) attracts my eyes a lot. Besides, it claimed to have the biggest search index. When I visited the site, it displayed “121,617,892,992 web pages”.

Secondly, the search result has different arrangement compared to the normal search engine. Text and images are displayed. Though sometimes, it displays a not-the-right images. Hope they can fix this.

But will it become a Google killer? Well, I’m not sure about it. It is very hard to beat a big brand like Google, but who know.. Yahoo! was the biggest search engine IMHO before Google. Just take note, no matter how big your business is, make sure you have the rearview mirror to look behind. the new start up might get near very fast. It’s internet age remember? Things move fast.
