Promote Your Website For Free
I’ve seen many websites are being abandoned after online. No marketing or any promotions are being approached to it. Some of them look outdated in terms of contents and graphical elements. Some of them stated ‘Copyright © 2002′ while it is in year 2007 already. And in the end, the website owners feel they are not giving much impacts to the business and think they don’t worth to spend a dime for.
Well, they did tickle my nerve a bit though. In individualistic point of view, they’re not my websites, so basically they’re not something I should mind or care anyway. But in broader thoughts, it is something I can give my hands on. Probably some tips would be good to help out.

After some meetings and hard work from your web design company, your website is now up and running. it is a cool design with great colours, high quality graphics and good copywritings. First step is done now. The web designer has done a brilliant job and you are proud of it.
But honestly speaking, the ‘web building’ process shouldn’t stop there. You need to promote it, bring it up so it has a chance to stay somewhere in your customer’s minds. Well, there are a number of Free ways you can go about doing this:
- Phonecall
- Print materials
- viral/word of mouth
Phonecall
It is easy and you’ll be sure that customers get the website address, because you talk directly to them. But don’t just pick up the phone and call them only to inform about your website. Believe me, they won’t like it, because you have taken up their precious time just to tell them something they might not have a chance to visit in short time.
The best way to inform and talk about it is when you have a chance to call them next time as part of everyday business. Make sure you focus on the website benefits. Special offers, tips and free items are good start.
When your customers have questions, you can direct it to the URLs of the website which have the answers. You need to update this very frequently though. This page is usually called FAQ.
Put the web address as signature in every emails sent out from your company. Inform your staffs to use a standard template, so all emails will have signature in same style. Keep it short and simple. Your customers don’t need huge amount of details. All you need to do is encourage them to visit the website.
Print Materials
This is a pretty broad range of category. It covers the smallest stationary like business card to big advertisement like billboard advertisement. You can standardized it this way, wherever and whenever your logo appear, your website address should be there to accompany. You should ensure all stationaries and promotional tools e.g. letterhead, invoices, compliment slips, brochures, flyers, etc have your website address displayed prominently.
Viral/Word of Mouth
It is very simple. Whenever you meet any customers and friends, talk to them about it, especially the benefits they can get by visiting it. Leave them a business card to refer to, they might forget the address later.
Okay, that’s it. I hope you enjoy the article, the free tips inside and implementing them in your website promotion.
