2006 is about to pass. It is so close that you can see it in the blink of eye now. We have had a great year of growing web technology in 2006, and it has leave a good start to enter 2007. We’ll see what to come in web environment by the end of next year. But here are my predictions:

  1. Simple and clean interface will dominate the design.
  2. Round corner will goes on as trend in layout. We can even do a CSS based round corner now, with no images.
  3. Color will go lighter and more pastel, with small areas of contrast to give more impacts.
  4. Large fonts will looks good in the page, as it increase readability and navigations.
  5. Non-pixelate icons will give a big contribution in design, as they decorate very nicely in a simple page with the smooth edges.
  6. Pattern and Texture will still cover the background of your web pages.
  7. Flash will mostly be used as design element of a website, i.e. header, main image or slide shows.
  8. In HTML coding, CSS layout will cover more and more of website development world, while Table style will still fight against this.
  9. Web 2.0 fever will stop, replaced by another blast which stand in front of your face. It can be called Web 2.1, Web 2.5 or Web 3.0. Who knows. It’s just a name anyway, which i don’t really care :|. In other words, we’ll see a more advance web development technology.
  10. More web based identity will spread very fast as the growth of blogsphere.
  11. Open Source software had been a great help in web development for these couple of years and it will continue for sure.

That’s all I have. If you have more predictions, you can submit it at comment box below. Have A Great Christmas 2006 and A Bright New Year 2007!
